The Breakfastables

There is nothing I don't love about this image. Nothing. These breakfast cereal mascots were as much a part of my childhood mornings as many of the Expendables actors were part of my teenaged evenings. Are they as washed up? Hard to say, but they don't have the hold on that they once did.

Eye Of The Tigers

I would hang out with these three in a heartbeat! Though the most fun would be listening to Hobbes made deadpan remarks to the over excitable Tigger and Tony. (Andry Shango via Comics Alliance)

If Boring Cereals Had Mascots

We all have to grown and start eating sensibly eventually, right? But that doesn't mean we can't have fun too, right? Right? Ah, never mind. (If Boring Cereals Had Mascots by Caldwell Tanner)

The Last Breakfast

Sculptor Brian Stuckey's The Last Breakfast finally gives Cap'n Crunch the Christ position after so many portrayals as Judas, a role now filled by Rice Krispies Snap. What is is with breakfast cereal mascots? Their either fighting or wasting their lives together — don't they have any other friends? (Via Cultural Compulsive Disorder)

It's Tough Out There For A Mascot

Won't somebody please think of the advertising icons? Poor things only know how to shill. (From artist Sarah Ingledew's final major project - thanks to John at Neatorama for the tip)

Yep, it's an empty life for these one-dimensional marketing puppets. (Link via Medium Large)

Cereal Killers

Late at night, outside the Kellogg's factory and all hopped up on sugar, the cereal mascots are in the mood for trouble. Well, maybe not Sonny, who looks as blissed-out as usual. But the Trix Rabbit looks like he's looking for a different kind of trick and Lucky is just a drunk, but Cap'n Crunch, Tony and Sugar Bear look mean. Cereal Killers from pop artist Sam Carter.

The Breakfast Cereal Club

“You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a leprechaun, a monster, a cap’n, a tiger, and a rabbit. Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Cereal Club.”

Wow, I don't know how I missed this one when it came out. Bravo, Ironic Sans. Reminds me of Rob Sheridan's Cereal Mascot Reunion. Let's just say it doesn't really work out for them.

And, of course, there is the Family Guy version. "Oh, it was a banner freaking year at the old Tiger house. I got a carton of cigarettes. Old man grabs me and says, 'Hey, smoke up, Tony, they're grrreat!'"

Cereal Mascot Reunion

Ever wonder where old cereal mascots go once they are no longer in demand? Of course you do. Seems they don't disappear, but slowly fade away in the wood-paneled, shag-carpeted rec room of artist Rob Sheridan's mind.

So long Franken Berry, Trix Rabbit, Count Chocula, Cap'n Crunch and Tony the Tiger, sugary breakfasts just aren't the same without you.
