Scientists Last Supper

Now here we go dropping science, dropping it all over...

From left to right: Galileo Galilei, Marie Curie, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Isaac Newton, Louis Pasteur, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Carl Sagan, Thomas Edison, Aristoteles, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins und Charles Darwin.

So, that makes Isaac Newton the Judas to Albert Einstein. Hmm, not sure I get that. Anyway, you can read a full explanation of all the Last Supper participants from creator Nick Farrantello, who says: "Each of the people in this picture has accomplished more for humanity then any of the guys in that other painting." (Thanks to Paul and Andrea for the tip)

  1. I wonder how many people who create these give that much thought to which character in the original they are replacing with which other character. Obviously, in some of them that has been carefully considered, but I suspect, in many, little consideration has been given.

  2. The character placement and who the Christ figure is are the two main things they try and get right. Better ones consider who is Judas or are sure to add a female character beside Christ (thank you, Dan Brown). If others try and make matches for the rest of the disciples, that beyond my Biblical scholarship.

  3. Very creative. Not quite sure why Neil Tyson is there though. He run's th Rose Center in NYC and does a TV show...but sitting at the table with Einstein...Newton...Galileo...?
I could have thought of others

    1. neil degrasse tyson is probably the most innovative and inspiring scientists living today. his work done with blackholes and space in general are groundbreaking, i mean, the guy did prove that pluto was indeed not even a planet. he deserves to be there by far. proving a theory or having a hypothesis sometimes isnt as important as it is to inspire the world to think that way. because of tyson, i have a profound new feeling about the universe and what it means to learn and discover, and maybe thats the most contributive thing out of anyone at that table

    2. Neil didnt 'prove' anything......the facts were there already, he postulated, and the international planetary board agreed. He didnt do much for black holes, Hawking and Asimov are the Kings there. And I dont want to hurt your feelings or his, but just because he had a profound effect on your life and is (definitely) an outstanding science communicator/educator/innovator, does not make him eligible to sit at that table. He's out of his league, as I think is Dawkins. Cant believe Im saying it but its true.... IMO. Everyone else on that table changed the world.....profoundly..... and touched everyone in it in some way......those two newbies have not (yet). Here's hoping.

    3. I love watching nerds fight and argue. What's next, will you be pulling out the switchblades on whether Superman can really defeat Batman?

    4. Lol... Dawkins 100% belongs there.

  4. Neil Tyson is their, going back to what Paul was saying. Agnostic Astrophysicist PhD and taken under the wing of Carl Sagan. Thomas and Phillip in the last supper...

  6. Although the gospel of phillip may at first appear similar to the Gospel of Thomas, it is not a sayings gospel, but a collection of gnostic teachings and reflections, a "gnostic anthology"

  7. Great idea - when can I get the 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle?

  8. You may say that "Each of the people in this picture has accomplished more for humanity then any of the guys in that other painting." However those "guys in that other painting" were not here to benefit humanity, as much as to provide something to save them from an after life of, well, and actual Hell!
Whereas the scientific figures pictured above did benefit this world with knowledge of technology and revolutionary theories, the world benefited from the first guys in a spiritual and theological way. In a way, it is as comparing an Chemist to a Particle Physicist. They both have good points to bring to the scientific world, but they can't necessarily be compared to one another on an equal levels.

    1. I BELIVE THOMAS EDISON STEALS THE SEAT FROM TESLA BECAUSE HE IS PLAYNG JUDAS

  11. Theological? The church was going to kill Galileo. Not sure he was really a huge fan. If anything, Newton was placed in the position of Judas because he's the most religious of the bunch.

  12. Oppenheimer really belongs in the Judas position--he's the only one of all of them to go over to the "dark side," as the Lab scientists call it.

I don't see why they couldn't have removed Edison and replaced him with Ada Lovelace, Caroline Herschel, Lise Meitner, or some other famous female scientist. There should be another woman there. Or more than one.

  13. So does that mean Einstein was married to Stephen hawking ??

  14. Yeah, Edison was the Monsanto of his day...Tesla needs to be there.

  15. Maybe because Newton in the limit of his knowledge, calls god... it was truth but if you give Newton the tools of today that would never happen...

  16. They both did entirely different things for science that were in two entirely different fields that were not very closely related. I don't know if they haven't taught you this in school yet but Scientists aren't competitors, they are collaborators. So take your hate and go crawl back into your little hole of ignorance.

  19. What Christ and His disciples offered to the world was a way of life based on “love one another” and “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
What these scientists and scholars offered the world is the means to a false prosperity, a stressed way of life, better ways to destroy the world, enslaving its people with mundane work and unending wars.
All that knowledge and lack of social skills has us on the road to destruction. "What profit people if they gain all that is in the world and lose their soul?"

    1. The difference it that there was no "Christ," or rather, Christ was a brilliant snake oil salesman and magician who was able to convince billions of people over the past 2000+ years that he was the son of some imaginary man in the sky. His ideas and ideals were good-hearted, though, I'll give him that. But who knows really? His words were spread by transmission for years before a word was written down. That anyone in the past hundred years believes in fairy tales is mind boggling.
