Danny, I'm Coming!

The Shining is still one of the creepiest films I've ever watched. Can't wait to finally get to the Kubrick show at the TIFF Light Box next month.  (Jason Masters for Crazy 4 Cult)

I’m Not Gonna Hurt Ya!

Cuddly Rigor Mortis (Kristin Tercek)’s Shining typewriter reminds me of the Sesame Street hot-wheels typewriter, but more maniacal. This is her submission to Spoke Art’s great Stanley Kubrick show.

All Work And No Play...

Makes Stanley Kubrick a dull boy. Great work by Dave MacDowell.

I'm Your Number One Fan

People always ask Stephen King where he gets his ideas from. This doesn't seem too off the mark. (Ouija by Eugene Kaik for Hero Complex Gallery’s King For a Day.)

Stephen King Superheroes?

The greatest villains of Stephen King's novels (was Carrie really a villain?) team up to battle The Dark Tower's Roland Deschain. Wait, what? Are they even all from Maine? No matter, I love the idea of an Avergers style (or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, for that matter) gathering of King's characters. (Phillip Sevy for The Line It Is Drawn)

Say Hello To My Little Ottoman Friend

Remember how you were thinking it would be great if classic movie scenes were only depicted in the style of 16th century Ottoman art? Well, look no further! Turkish artist Murat Paltat has created 11 scenes (three are shown here), with more details at his site. Above: Scarface. (via Neatorama)

Toy Story 4: The Shining

This is just pure, creepy awesomeness and just a very short step from where Toy Story 3 was already headed. Kyle Lambert created 25 scenes mashing up Toy Story and The Shining with uncanny perfection for Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich. It is filled with great detail and well worth seeing all the images. The Shining? Oh, Yeah!

It's not the river of blood pouring from the elevator at the Overlook Hotel, it's the Kool-Aid Man that's the real horror. (via forkparty)

Pop Culture Dads BBQ

With father figures like these, you are going to be one messed up kid. Dads by Nathan Stapley for his upcoming solo show at Gallery 1988. Looking forward to seeing a larger version, but so far I can identify Marlin (Finding Nemo), Poseidon, Walter White (Breaking Bad), Clark Griswold, Darth Vader, Henry Jones, Sr., Jack Torrance, Homer Simpson, Mr. Incredible and Mrs. Doubtfire, to name a few.

Famous Twins, In Vivo

A collection of famous fictional twins as they may have looked in the womb. I can only imagine that babies being born with weapons and clothing would be a little disturbing. (Film Twins by Mr. Whaite, via That Geek Lover)

The kids need something to occupy then while at the Overlook, lest they need to be "corrected." (Overlook Hotel Kids' Placemat by zero-lives)

Come And Play With Us, Danny

Hello Danny. Come and play with us. Come and play with us, Danny. Forever... and ever... and ever.

Scenes from The Shining is a popular subject at this year's Gallery 1988 Crazy for Cult show. Above: Come Play With Us by Israel Sanchez.

"My girls, sir, they didn't care for the Overlook at first. One of them actually stole a pack of matches, and tried to burn it down. But I 'corrected' them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I 'corrected' her. "

Above: A Father's Duty by Audrey Pongracz. To this day this movie scares the crap out of me.

"Danny, I'm coming! Come out, come out, where ever you are." Above: The Caretaker by Lucas Gluesenkamp.

Shining Cuckoo Clock

Every hour Jack Torrance breaks through the door and says "Heeere's Johnny!" which would mean I would only get a half hour of sleep every hour as I laid cowering in my bed.

"Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in. Not by the hair of your chiny-chin-chin? Well then I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in." From artist Chris Domino. (Link via Neatorama)

And Now I Have A Heart

If the Wizard of Oz can't get you a new heart then you go out and get one. And now we know what really happened to those twin girls in the Overlook Hotel. Not sure why he killed both of the them, but a Tin Man has got to do what a Tin Man has got to do. (Nick Holmes via Paul Scheer )

The Shandling

If Gary Shandling came crashing through my wall, I'd be terrified, and not just because of the whole axe-wielding, homicidal maniac thing. Though that would be scary too.

This would be as, if not more, terrifying.
