And To Think That I Hulked Out On Mulberry Street

I love looking back into an artists work and seeing what else they have done and doing that with cartoonist and illustrator Ryan Dunlavey is a treasure trove. These are four Dr. Seuss-inspired superhero books that I am well familiar with.

The Justice League Of The Ottoman Empire

Because who wasn't wondering what the Justice League would like depicted in the Ottoman style of classical art? Berk Senturk satisfies that curiosity.

Hello Mary, Mother Of Pop Culture

French artist Soasig Chamaillard finds damaged statues of the Virgin Mary and transforms them into pop culture icons — as one does. Best of all, nobody is being killed or burnt in effigy because of them! (via Comics Alliance)

One of the downsides of secret identities. Why do they need secret identities anyway? (Super Embarrassing by Kerry Callen, via Comics Alliance)

Viva The Pop Culture Revolution!

An unknown artist repainted a Soviet monument in Sofia, Bulgaria as the Joker, Santa Claus, Superman, Ronald Mcdonald, Captain America and more, captioning it "Moving with the times." Below, the unaltered version. Now that's fine graffiti! (Stoyan Nenov/Reuters; link via Daily Mail)

Grumpy Old Superheroes

My only question, does Superman age? And if so, would he do so the same as humans like Batman and Flash? (We Were Heroes by Bryan Lee, via Comics Alliance)

The One Where The Friends Get Superpowers

Through a strange series of events the Central Perk crew took on the powers of the Super Friends to become the Super Whiners:

Matt Le Blanc as Superman - perfect choice, all brawn, very little brain.
Monica Geller as Green Lantern - I've no idea, really, why. Guess she had to be someone.
Chandler Bing as Batman - a nice choice as the most neurotic of the superheroes.
Phoebe Buffay as Aquaman - one talks to cats, the other to fish.
Rachel Green as Wonder Woman - this really should have been Monica's role, though the hair was a wonder.
Ross Geller as Robin - yep, they were both useless. (Link via Karl Heitmueller)

Bathamm And Superhamm

They should have Jon Hamm play all superheroes. Also, he needs to have a tumbler in his hand. (Bathamm and Superhamm by Stanley Chow. Prints available.)

Anarchy In The JLA

No justice, just us.

Warren Ellis asked: "You have been tasked with producing the poster for Malcolm McLaren's JUSTICE LEAGUE film. What does that look like?"

Annie Wu responded above, and it is awesome. (Link via Comic Book Junkie)

Superhero Thug Life

I always suspected that the camaraderie of the Super Friends was a sham and now the truth has been exposed. Hardcore, but they should really reconsider the bandannas, they aren't really helping much. (Steve Seely via Spoke Blog)

The Charlie Sheen Comics Page

You know, I wanted to avoid posting about Charlie Sheen, I really did, but when his bat-shit insane rants moved into comics even I had to relent. What can I do? It's funny stuff.

Best Rock Collection Ever!

Of course the reason these rocks and minerals are so rare is because you have to break through the layer of adamantite to get to everything else. This almost makes me interested in geology. Almost.

Justice LeagueArama

Andy Kuhn re-imagines the Futurama gang as the Justice League of America. Love Bender as Batman but I just can't imagine Fry ever being fast enough to be Flash. Maybe the worms got back into him like they predicted. (Link via Geek Mythology)

Monkey Knife Fight Club

"If this is your first time at Monkey Knife Fight Club, you have to fight."

I love the idea that a bunch of bored superheros pit Blip and Gleek, two otherwise pointless monkeys, against each other. What else do they have to do all day anyway. What will be really scary is when thy move on to Project Mayhem.

Superman, The Flash... And The General?

“When Boss Hogg sets up a phony charity designed to funnel contributions from well-meaning citizens into his own pockets, Superman and the Flash are roped into holding a charity race across Hazzard County–without super-powers! But when Bo and Luke Duke, a couple of good ol’ boys who never mean no harm crash the race, can the two Fastest Men Alive outrun a souped-up Dodge Charger before it hits the county line?"
By Chris Sims and drawn by Rusty Shackles of Comics Alliance via my good friend John Farrier's fabulous new blog Neatogeek. The new blog is a spinoff of the already fabulous Neatorama and will be making a regular appearance here. This is also a goodbye to The Zeray Gazette, which cedes its time in the blogosphere to Neatogeek. Congrats John, the site looks amazing!

Late Night With Taiwanese Information Animations

動新聞 美國深夜脫口秀大風吹

Confused about the late-night battle and scheduling machinations of NBC, Jay and Conan? Then why not have a Taiwanese news channel explain it to you in animated form, with NBC CEO Jeff Zucker as Captain America, Jay Leno as Superman and Conan O'Brien as The Hulk? Makes perfect sense to me know. From the folks who brought you the Tiger Woods accident, via The Ampersand.
