No Country For Old Scooby-Doo

Don't know how I missed this one when it came out, or that No Country For Old Men has been out for over three years. Where does the pop culture time go?

True Grit Story

Woody, in your four years as Sheriff, how many men have you shot?
Shot? Or killed?
Let us restrict it to killed so we may have a manageable figure!

I love how Woody is a perfect stand-in for any Western character. He'll have quite the post-Pixar career. (Toy Grit Mash-Up Trailer by forensicator8)

Riverdale High: Rebooted

Vancouver film company Point Blank Creative portrays the darker side of Archie comics, with drug, teen pregnancy, jealously, violence and homophobia. Awesome! (Link via The Province)

Summer Movies Blow Up Real Good

When you mash 24 trailers together you get a whole lot of explosions and gun play and a plot that doesn't make any sense. So, just like a summer movie. With another little one on the way this might be the only way I'll see any of these movies anyway. (Link via FilmDrunk)

Two words: eat it. The trailer for the upcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic — yep, exactly how I remember it.

Mean Disney Girls

Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle as The Plastics and Lindsay Lohan as Ariel? It's a note-perfect Disney mashup and, like Lindsay, Ariel is well aquatinted with crabs. (Link via Urlesque)

The Future is Terminated

Terminator - How It Should End

To Save the Future, the Terminator must go BACK to the future! I would watch the hell out of this movie. The folks at How It Should Have Ended hit this one out of the park.

The Alice In Wonderland trailer is dark, colourful, amazing! What what else would you expect when you mix Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and a fairytale setting? Don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

Update: Looks like Disney has pulled the trailer off the internets — only a few grainy versions remain. It must be horrible for a company to get all that free advertising and promotion. Good for them for dismissing all those fans!

Update 2: Hmm, it's back. I sure told them.

The Killin' Nazis Bidness

And cousin, bidness is a-boomin! Ok, forget Alice for a while, THIS is the movie I'm looking forward too: Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.

My friend and critic James Rocchi describes it as a "series of great scenes without a movie to connect them," but that will work just fine for me. Snappy dialogue, some cool editing, a bit of great music and I'm a happy guy. And we only need to wait two months for this one. (Link via FirstShowing)

The web is full of weirdness today. You doubt me? I give you the Pedobear version of Doubt. As CollegeHumor says, "We did it - we found something creepier than Philip Seymour Hoffman."

Oh yeah, and did I mention Explosions and Boobs? Yup, what it says is what you get. As I said, weird.

They Roared Their Terrible Roars...

The first trailer for Spike Jonze's adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are is out — with Arcade Fire's Wake Up as the backing track — and it looks great, if a little creepy. Of course that could just be me. The book always scared me a little.

We Are Outnumbered By Machines

If there really are concerns about Christian Bale's ability to recover from his fit of epic cursing, then the new trailer for Terminator: Salvation ought to alleviate them. It looks like a piece of mind-melting, summer popcorn fun and I was thoroughly in the "Why do we need another Terminator?" camp.

And hearing Bale's raspy, angry bellowing, I can just imagine what scene that unfortunate director of photography walked through. And I don't care.
