Topless Robot posted this the other day as an example of why Star Trek: The Next Generation is actually inferior to the original series. I think it illustrates exactly the opposite. Jean-Luc Picard has got moves!

While I agree with Topless Robot that ST:TNG is inferior to the original Star Trek, for me has more to do with the fact that most of the characters on ST:TNG on woefully underdeveloped. Even Geordi, Troi, and Dr. Crusher on ST:TNG got a lot more screen time, they don't have personalities the way that Uhura, Sulu, and Chekhov do!

ReplyDeleteWell, I can't defend characters like Troi and Dr. Crusher - they really didn't write well for women. But I also suspect that you'd be more of a fan of the original series just based on the decade it was created. You have a little bit of a bias in that direction. LOL
