Reservoir Zombies

How great would they look, entrails hanging out, shuffling along to Little Green Bag? Coolest zombies ever! Reservoir Dogs by Reza Rasoli for the Quentin vs. Coen show.

One Death, Payable To The Bearer On Demand

I've never seen a death certificate. Do they look like this? Because that would be awesome. Kiddo vs Driver by Anville for Spoke Art's increasingly cool Quentin vs. Coen show.

Star Wars Antiques Roadshow

"I’m so glad your brought this in today, it really is a one-of-a-kind. This smuggler is encased in carbonite, Mr. Fett. Were you aware of that? Can you tell me about how it came into your family?

This carbonite Han Solo, if sold at auction today, in the great condition it is in, would probably fetch anywhere between 25,000 and 35,000 galactic credits."

Boba Fett: "He's worth a lot to me."

I can't be sure where this came from originally, but I found it Shopped Sci Fi.

Shit! Orange Got Tagged?

"Mr. Orange dying in a 1972 Pontiac Lemans Coupe Convertible" is Tim Doyle’s tribute to Reservoir Dogs for Spoke Art's Quentin vs. Coen show. Here's part of his explanation of his inspiration from Slash Film:
"For me, the whole film is about the bond these two characters form- Mr. White and Mr. Orange. The entire caper, and all the character’s lives come undone because of the tight honor-bond that White has with Orange. Orange took a bullet in the gut and White is going to see him saved come hell or high water. It’s in this car that the seeds of destruction are sown, a pact made in a bloody hand-clasp. And damn, what a car it is. It’s a big honking chunk of US steel, and while it’s not out of place in the film stylistically, it’s a definite conscious decision on the part of the filmmakers."

Mad Mr. Men

When this came out last year I was amused because of the Mr. Men reference but I wasn't watching Mad Men at the time. Now while sitting in front of the TV and nearing the end of Season Two I remembered The Poke's take on these advertising icons. They nailed Sterling.

True Grit Story

Woody, in your four years as Sheriff, how many men have you shot?
Shot? Or killed?
Let us restrict it to killed so we may have a manageable figure!

I love how Woody is a perfect stand-in for any Western character. He'll have quite the post-Pixar career. (Toy Grit Mash-Up Trailer by forensicator8)

"How it would be before the popular children's books, movies and comic strips. Before the Andy, Calvin and Christopher Robins. Were these guys just three dudes that hung out and caused trouble."

Bloom County: To Russia With Love

Dismayed that there has never been a Bloom County movies (what's up with that, Berkeley Breathed?), Jesse J. Barboza went ahead and created a plot and poster, featuring the whole cast:

"I began kicking around a plot idea similar to the 1984 anti-Commie "classic" Red Dawn - something like the Ruskies invade Milo's Meadow and all hell breaks loose. But then I built on it even further with the idea that the Russians kidnap former Communist defector Bill the Cat, and it's up to the residents of the Bloom Boarding House to bring him back in one piece."

Silly Rabbit, Trixs Are For Kids

"This print was inspired by the Kill Bill scene where Beatrix Kiddo and Oren Iishii fight outside of the House of Blue Leaves in the style of a Japanese wood block print. You can find emblems representing each of the assassins code symbol (the Black Mamba and the Copperhead) on their kimonos. In the word boxes are phrases from the film, roughly translated into Japanese. On the left is something to the tune of “When it comes to Revenge you must time it right/be swift” and on the right is “Silly Rabbit, Tricks are for kids”.

Last Supper in South Park

Pop surrealist Ron English has returned to the subject of the Last Supper for his contribution to a South Park pop art show. English was one of the first Last Supper parodies to catch my eye and is the first painting in my original collection of 100 Last Suppers.

This time round he takes to the denizens of South Park and haves himself a time. Unlike most parodies, this one actually has a Jesus as Jesus, as Christ conveniently lives in Colorado. His Judas? Mr. Hat - no surprise there. Towelie as the table cloth is a nice touch and Mr. Hankey as the body? Gross.

I know I'm saying this a lot recently, but Pop Chart Lab's Visual Compendium of Notable Haircuts In Popular Music is awesome! Also, there are very few distinctive blonde coifs in music and I think I'm going to ask for a Coolio next time I get my hair cut.
