...And Then I Ended The World

So does the zombie ninja riding a dinosaur end the world or does it happen when he's battling the robot pirate? I'd pick the former, but in a poll The Zeray Gazette purposes that I may be the cause of the end of the world. Not sure why, really, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. I'm tied with robot pirates so far. (This Is How The World Ends via Geekologie)

And Now I Have A Heart

If the Wizard of Oz can't get you a new heart then you go out and get one. And now we know what really happened to those twin girls in the Overlook Hotel. Not sure why he killed both of the them, but a Tin Man has got to do what a Tin Man has got to do. (Nick Holmes via Paul Scheer )

The opening credits of Lost, as a 1960s campy sci-fi action series. It must have been one of the timelines that occured when they set of Jughead. Anyway, can't wait for tonight's episode. (Link via The Zeray Gazette)

If Gary Shandling came crashing through my wall, I'd be terrified, and not just because of the whole axe-wielding, homicidal maniac thing. Though that would be scary too.

This would be as, if not more, terrifying.

Let Your Video Game Freak Flag Fly

When I saw this pixel-tribute to the Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima photograph (Epics, from Teextile), I just figured it was the usual piece of pop culture parody, with the artist's favourite games represented. But the comments at Topless Robot revealed a deeper meaning:
Brett said:
Manny Calaveras FTW! Seriously, Grim Fandango is a classic character from adventure gaming. Does anyone not recognize the trend?
Master Chief: First-Person Shooter
Link: action-RPG
Mario: Side-scroller
Lara Croft: 3d adventure/platformer

Screw You, Conan!

Worst Super Bowl Party Ever

So that's it? Everybody's all friends now? So WTF did I have to hear/see/watch all that overblown late night drama for? I mean it's funny, but screw you Letterman. If I wasn't already not watching you both, I'd totally stop watching you. I assume Conan's gazillion-dollar payoff is helping him keep the rage under control.

David Lynch's Super Bowl Head

The Super Bowl is today, or so I am told. I'm no football fan but I could be convinced if major filmmakers were allowed to direct the telecast, as Slate V imagines. (Link via FilmDrunk)

Quentin Tarantino — I expected more blood and less football. The animation was good though.
David Lynch — I would so watch that broadcast. People would be soooo angry!
Wes Anderson — I'm surprised they don't hire him. It looks like Olympic profile coverage.
Jean-Luc Godard — Isn't this how they show it in France?
Werner Herzog — Also, surprisingly watchable

A low-energy lightsaber. Sure, it will save the environment, but can it still slice through a Sith? And the say goodbye to the soft warm glow. Such as the choices that an EcoWarrior needs to make.

Heavyweight Animation Champion Of The World

So it turns out that the Simpons vs. Family Guy bout was only a preliminary round and has already been decided: The Simpsons win and Homer went on to represent them at the Heavyweight Animation Championship Of The World. (Tip of the hat to stop the music now!!)

Homer Simpson vs. Bugs Bunny:
As I said in my previous post, Homer can take anything that is thrown at him, he's never faced an opponent like Bugs Bunny. That rabit can not only survive gunshots and explosions, he can even make you think he's a woman. How can Homer compete.
Result: Bugs Bunny, by knockout to the tune of Barber of Seville, in the fifth.

And as a bonus, I found out who drew this: Jack Gray and Eric Wiese for Wizard Magazine. Gray explains how they did it.

Animation Domination

Simpsons vs Family Guy, it's a tough call. Not as shows, of course. That goes to The Simpsons, hands down, but in a fight? (Photo via Mr. Smith Goes to Tumblr)

Homer vs. Peter: Peter can dole out the hurt like nobody's business, but Homer can take any hit.
Result: Draw

Marge vs. Lois: While Marge has proven quite resourceful over the years and has police and MMA training, Lois would fight dirty. Real dirty.
Result: Lois

Bart vs. Chris: Bart is a prankster artiste but Chris has a crazy monkey driving him and far more weight. I don't think Bart stands a chance.
Result: Chris

Lisa vs. Meg: Lisa is brilliant while Meg is, well, Meg.
Result: Lisa

Maggie vs. Stewie: This is a tough one. Maggie has bested the Ayn Rand School for Tots and shot Mr. Burns while Stewie is a homicidal genius and inventor.
Result: Stewie, but only by a slim margin

Santa's Little Helper vs. Brian: SLP isn't the brightest of pets while Brian is literate and urbane, in a fight he'd cower before the alpha male.
Result: Santa's Little Helper
